Amy Mahala

Amy Mahala  is an artist and textiles teacher based in North Cornwall.  She studied Textile Design at Winchester School of Art, specialising in knitted textiles. "Here I spent a lot of time taking photographs and creating artwork in different media to inspire my knits, which were often embellished with embroidery and other textile techniques. I have always liked to experiment with different media, and this approach has inspired the work that I create today. " A common theme running through her work is that she creatively uses stitch and mixed media to express the beauty and the emotions of both the sea and landscapes. She uses free machine embroidery as a drawing tool alongside paint and/ collage techniques.
