Frances Spice

Originally from Somerset I moved to Cornwall in 1998. I had worked with clay for a number of years making hand modelled figures and animals. I then studied ceramics and design at Cornwall College and in 2008 I completed my Higher National Diploma. My work now is mainly hand built slab work. From a flat piece of clay I cut out my desired shape before assembling the piece together. I use under glazes, glazes, stains, oxides and gold lustre to decorate my work. Each piece is fired 2-3 times. My inspiration comes from everything and anything.
