Cornelis Jakob Van Dop
Born in the Netherlands in 1945 Cornelis has had a life long passion for boats and ships, latterly especially merchant sail of the 19th and 20th century. Self taught, he only began oil painting in his seventies and strives to depict accurately the details of sails, rigging, hulls etc. He prefers the smoothness of prepared panels rather than canvas to work on. Greatly admires the painting of John Ward, Mark Myers as well as the late Tommy Morrissey from Padstow.
