Paula Whitbread - Roberts

My paintings invariably have a narrative and reflect my thought processes at any given time. The subject matter within the paintings evolves from personal experiences and observations and are very much interpretations of my imagination.  Walking and swimming have played a major role, focusing essentially on my fascination with water.  The power of the sea and everchanging elements each tell their own story. As an artist, living in such a beautiful place and so close to the sea is truly inspiring. These natural elements are encapsulated within my work, be it through colour, gestural mark making, contrast of light and dark etc.
